The history of the meme VS. biological evolution ?
A meme (/ˈmiːm/ MEEM), was originally coined by Richard Dawkins
in his 1976 book the Selfish Gene
A theory of natural selection:
Some advocates a theory that memes are a viral phenomenon that evolve by natural selection similar to biological evolution. And memes do this through the processes of variation, mutation, and competition which influences a meme's reproductive success as it travels and morphs through the inter-webs.
Memes spread through people and influence the way people evolve in this new digital age we live in today and we are dealing with a phenomenon that will only get bigger and bigger as more and more people come on the internet and want to express themselves. So just like we know from biology memes that propagate less prolifically may become extinct, while others may survive, spread, and (for better or for worse) mutate.
Therefore memes can be considered as living structures, and not just metaphorically. And Memes that replicate most effectively enjoy more success.
Ok but what is a meme ?
- A meme is an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person to person within a culture
and it acts as a unit for carrying cultural ideas, symbols, or practices
also it can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals,
or other imitable phenomena or behavior with a mimicked theme.
- A meme is a cultural analogue that people replicate, mutate, and use to respond to selective pressures of society.
And in the evolution of memes the cancerous memes will die off or mutate into something positive,
and the below average memes will disappear and be forever forgotten never to be seen again.
